Ingredients A :

1 1/2  cup  granulated sugar
1  cup  hot water
250  gm  margarine

Method :

Place granulated sugar in a heavy based saucepan.  Place the pan on the stove on low fire.  Stir gently until sugar changes colour to dark runny honey.  Remove from heat and slowly pour in the hot water.  Stir well and place back the pan on the stove.  When sugar dissolved, add in margarine.  Stir until all are well combined.  Remove from heat and set aside.

Ingredients B :

3/4  cup  caster sugar
4  eggs  'B'
3  cups  all-purpose flour (sift together with baking soda)
2  tsp  baking soda
1  can  evaporated milk  (400 ml)
2  tsp  vanilla essence

Method :

1.   Prepare the steamer.
2.   Using a hand mixer, beat sugar, eggs and vanilla essence until light and fluffy.
3.   Pour in the warm caramel.  Stir well.
4.   Add flour alternately with milk.  Stir to mix well.
5.   Keep aside for 1/2 hour.
6.   Grease the moulds with a bit of oil.  Pour the mixture into the mould until almost to the top.  Arrange in the steamer.
7.   Steam for 15-20 minutes.  Remove from mould and serve with some freshly grated white coconut with a little salt.
