CHOCOLATE MARBLE BREAD
original recipe : Joy of Baking

115 gm chocolate bar - chopped
1/2 cup milk, divided (120 ml)
1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (195 gm)
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 cup sour cream or plain yogurt (60 ml)
1/2 cup butter (113 gm)
3/4 cup caster sugar plus 2 tbsp. (170 gm)
2 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla essence


Preheat oven 160'C. Greased and lined 9 x 5 x 3 inch pan. Melt the chocolate bar along with 1/4 cup (60 ml) milk by double boil over simmering water. Remove from heat and set aside.
In another bowl, whisk flour with baking powder and salt. In a small bowl whisk sour cream/yogurt with remaining 1/4 cup (60 ml) milk and vanilla.
Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time. Add flour mixture and sour cream/milk mixture in 3 additions begin with flour ending with flour.
Spoon half of the batter into a separate bowl. Add melted chocolate mixture to one half of the batter and fold in, while the other half colour it green.
Spoon the batter into the pan alternately chocolate with green batter and swirl into marble effect. Bake for 55 minutes/till cooked.
